Security Officer Training

The Combined Course is a 24-hour course and includes all the instruction needed to be certified as a Facility, Vessel or Company Security Officer by IMO and MTSA. Our Maritime Security Awareness is a 4-hour course is intended for all personnel who are not assigned specific security duties but are involved in the work of ports, facilities and vessels.

Both courses were created by Captain Bradley Marine Consultants. Both courses are certificated by US Maritime Administration and Det Norske Veritas. We are also able to bring these courses to your work place if we have at least 6 students.

Combined Facility/Company/Vessel Security Officer Training (3-day course)

Course Description
The Security Officer Certification Course (FSO/CSO/SSO) includes all of the instruction required for certification as a ’Security Officer’ by the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO¤s) Model Course 3.21 ”Facility Security Officer” , Model Course 3.19 “Ship Security Officer” and the US Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002.This program will provide competency and skills to those persons designated to perform the duties and responsibilities of a Facility Security Officer (FSO), Company Security Officer (CSO) or Ship Security Officer as defined in section A/2.1.6, 7,8 (and section A/11,12, 17) of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. The program will also prepare the student to comply with the education and training requirements of the Maritime Security Transportation Act (MTSA) of 2002, Section 109, Maritime Security Professional Training and Certifications Standards, as well as of 33 CFR 104.210, 104.215 105.205, for Company, Vessel and Facility Security Officers and 33 CFR 104.220, 104.225, 105.210, 105.215 Vessel and Facility Personnel with Security Duties and Vessel and Facility other personnel.

Intended Audience
Port, vessel and facility operations and security personnel, port authority managers and security personnel, law enforcement personnel with port or port facility security responsibilities, designated authority personnel, corporate managers and security personnel, and ship operations and security officers.

Maritime Security Awareness Training (4-hr course)

Course Description
This course is intended to provide the knowledge required for all personnel who are not assigned specific duties in connection with a security plan but are involved in the work of ports, facilities, and vessels and are therefore affected by the requirements of the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002, and/or Chapter XI-2 of SOLAS 74 as amended, and/or the IMO ISPS Code, and /or U.S. Coast Guard regulations contained in 33 CFR Chapter I, Subchapter H.

Those who successfully complete the course should be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge to support the implementation of relevant maritime security plans. This knowledge shall include, but is not limited to:

  1. The meaning and consequential requirements of the different Maritime Security (MARSEC) levels;
  2. Knowledge of emergency procedures and contingency plans;
  3. Recognition and detection of weapons, dangerous substances, and devices;
  4. Recognition, on a non-discriminatory basis, of characteristics and behavioral pattern of persons who are likely to threaten

Those persons who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate of completion on behalf of Captain Bradley Marine Consultants . This course is also recognized as a U.S. Coast Guard / MARAD certified course.
